Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) of the lower extremities is a condition in which the arteries in the legs begin to narrow, resulting in a reduction of blood flow. It can cause pain in the calf, thigh, or buttocks while walking (intermittent claudication), hard to heal ulcers around the foot or leg (diabetic foot ulcers or other arterial ulcers), constant pain (rest pain), or an increased risk for amputation.
